Shropshire nursing home told to improve standards

A nursing home was currently ordered to improve by care watchdogs following a publication of a damning inspection inform which highlighted major concerns.Gadlas Hall Nursing Home in Dudleston Heath, near Ellesmere, was found to have no registered mental health nurses on a staff despite caring for 14 dementia patients.Inspectors from a Care Quality Commission ran a rule over a home in February and said it also failed to strengthen peoples safety and welfare. The CQC said no individual assessments were carried out to ensure a right equipment was provided to residents who suffered from vigour sores, and some staff had received no safeguarding training.Inspectors found no evidence care plans and risk assessments were evaluated to ensure they fairly reflected residents needs or changes in circumstances.Bosses at a Eastwick Lane home, which has capacity for 29 residents, were unavailable for comment today.Inspectors have told a nursing home which it contingency make improvements to comply with necessary standards of quality and safety.A CQC inform said inspectors found a home was not meeting five necessary standards, and in four of these areas of major concern were identified. During their visit, inspectors also identified a moderate concern relating to a presentation of other incidents.Andrea Gordon, CQC deputy director of operations (Central Region), said: The failings at Gadlas Hall Nursing Home are a real concern and improvements need to be made. Where improvements are not made we have a operation of enforcement powers which can be used, together with prosecution, closure or restriction of services. The CQC inform said they had raised concerns in April 2011 and later discovered they had not been informed of three serious issues which had occurred given a last visit. But a inform added residents spoken to during a inspection were largely positive about a care they received, with some saying they liked a food and others rating it alright.Powered By iWebRSS.co.cc
